CLERGY IN THE VILLAGE LITYNIA IN DROHOBYCH DISTRICT (SECOND HALF XVII – XVIII CENTURY): GENEALOGICAL ESSAY

Abstract

Explore genealogy clergy (priests, deacons, рopovichs) of village Litynia in Drohobych district (second half XVII – XVIII century), the author seeks in this article. The author used a large amount of  historical documents. The result of the study was that the author found that there was two branches of priests family in the village Litynia. Priest Fr. Basil (and his brother Ivan) and deacon Stephen were protoplasts these branches of the family. One line of the family (from Fr. Basil and his brother John to Fr. Nicholas) stopped at the beginning of the XVIII century. Another line family (Fr. Jacob, Fr.John, Fr. Stephen, Fr. Jacob) existed in Litynia until the end of the XVIII century. Not all children of the priests remained in the village, a few children of the priests looking for other parishes or entered the monasteries. The generic relations priests with the deacons and рopovichs in the village Litynia author also discovered and described in this article. The author has found many priests who had the name «Litinskiy» and have been priests to other parishes of  the Przemysl Diocese. The author made the assumption that they had family relations with the Litynia’s priests. In addition, property status and educational level Litynia’s priests are briefly described in this article.
